Grant Eligibility

All Organizations applying to Impact100 Little Traverse Bay must be/have the following:

  • Tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
  • Based in Emmet and/or Charlevoix counties
  • All funds must be fully expended within Emmet and/or Charlevoix Counties to serve residents of these communities 
  • Not have any pending or threatened claims or litigation against your organization

 

Initiatives eligible to apply for the Impact100 Little Traverse Bay grant must:

  • Be a new program, capital project, expansion of an existing program or a new or expanded collaborative effort of two or more nonprofit organizations
  • Have a total project budget for the full Impact100 available grant
  • Expend funds within 12 months of the award date or notify Impact100 Little Traverse Bay of timeline changes
  • Grant applicants must have a plan for sustainability
  • Provide at least three full years of Form 990 and financial statements. Financial statements may be audited or reviewed (suggested, but not required) or internal financial statement
  • Two or more nonprofits may collaborate on a transformative project and submit a joint application, but the lead applicant must satisfy the stated eligibility requirements
  • Grant recipient must submit periodic progress reports and work with Impact100 Little Traverse Bay Grant Chairs throughout the duration of the grant period
  • Designate one of the following focus areas: 1) Arts & Culture 2) Education 3) Environment, Recreation & Preservation 4) Family 5) Health & Wellness

 

The following are deemed ineligible:

  • Grants to individuals or private foundations
  • Endowment funding
  • Interim or bridge funding
  • Operating deficits
  • Debt reduction
  • Organizations or programs that are political, partisan, or ideological in nature, funded by or affiliated with a political party, or that could be perceived as politically motivated or divisive by name, mission, or activity—including those supporting or opposing any party, candidate, campaign, or legislation
  • Projects that are solely for the benefit of an individual church, religious organization, or particular faith are not eligible. Funded projects must serve the broader community and be open to all, without requiring participation in religious activities  
  • Fund drives, annual appeals, or fundraising events
  • Capital improvements or renovations to property for the grant project where the organization may be denied access to at some point 
 
Impact100 Little Traverse Bay collectively funds transformational grants in the areas of Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Family, and Health & Wellness in the two county area of Emmet and Charlevoix counties.
 

The Five Focus Areas are:

  • Arts & Culture – Initiatives that develop, enhance, and/or preserve the arts, music, culture and/or history of Emmet and/or Charlevoix counties.
  • Education -Initiatives that further the educational process and/or improve access to education for children, adults and/or seniors living in Emmet and/or Charlevoix counties.
  • Environment – Initiatives that restore, revitalize, and/or enhance the environment and/or create and/or improve recreational opportunities in Emmet and/or Charlevoix counties.
  • Family –  Initiatives that strengthen and/or enhance the lives of children, families, and/or seniors living in Emmet and/or Charlevoix counties.
  • Health & Wellness – Initiatives that improve the mental and/or physical well-being of people living in Emmet and/or Charlevoix counties.
